Earth-friendly knitting

Tonight's SKG meeting had a presentation on earth-friendly yarns! It was really interesting to hear about all of the new ways yarn makers are reaching out to do their part to help the environment (and us enviro-knitters!) Mary from Earth-Friendly Yarns and the Fiber Gallery gave the presentation. Did you know yarn is being made from the by products of Tofu? Or what about crab and lobster shells? It's just fascinating!

Very cool!!! You should send that information into idealbite.com for a daily tip! I bet they would post it to all of us daily biters! I am totally intrigued by this. Is the yarn more expensive? Is it easy to find in stores? I don't even knit...but I still find it cool!!! -Sara

Some of the yarn is a bit more expensive, but it can be worth it if you're looking for a more earth friendly fiber. I'm lucky, living in Seattle, LYS (that's local yarn store for you non-knitters) are beginning to carry more of these types of yarns! Rebecca, while you and Sarah were chatting, I was paying attention!
